On Sunday, 27.08.2017 Simon Bremer, a student working at Mercateo, presented our paper “A Framework for Training Hybrid Recommender Systems” at the RecSys 2017 conference in Como. The presentation took place as part of the workshop on “Intelligent Recommender Systems by Knowledge Transfer and Learning”. Enabling recommender models of different strengths to learn from each other, the introduced method is particularly useful for dealing with the cold-start problem.
VINCI conference in Bangkok
Last week, Mandy Keck presented our research project and the paper “Towards Glyph-based Visualizations for Big Data Clustering” at the 10th International Symposium on Visual Information Communication and Interaction in Bangkok. The paper addressed a glyph concept for cluster analysis and an user evaluation. We got valuable feedback at the conference and discussed our approach with an international expert audience. The associated presentation is available on slideshare:
Mensch und Computer 2017
We are happy that our concept for elastic walls has been accepted for the conference “Mensch und Computer” in the workshop “Begreifbare Interaktion”. The paper “Exploring Big Data Landscapes with
Elastic Displays” will be presented during the conference on 10th September 2017 in Regensburg.
VANDA project team @ OUTPUT.DD
Last thursday, we presented our current research results at OUTPUT.DD in the Faculty of Computer Science – Technische Universität Dresden. Interested visitors could test our glyphboard demonstrator and solve analysis tasks with different glyph visualizations. Every year, OUTPUT.DD presents current research projects of the Faculty of Computer Science and connects students, researchers and representatives of local companies.
VINCI 2017
We are happy that our Full Paper “Towards Glyph-based Visualizations for Big Data Clustering” has been accepted for the 10th International Symposium on Visual Information Communication and Interaction (VINCI 2017). The paper focuses on a glyph-based design concept for cluster analysis and includes a user study that compares different design approaches. It will be presented during the conference from 14 – 16 August 2017 in Bangkok.
OUTPUT.DD 2017
On Thursday, 15th of June 2017 you will find us on OUTPUT.DD in the Faculty of Computer Science – Technische Universität Dresden. From 14:00 – 18:00, we will present our current project results. We look forward to meeting you and to discuss our research.
The event is free to the general public and takes place at Nöthnitzer Str. 46, 01187 Dresden. More information is available on the website: output-dd.de
xCoAx 2017
Currently, we experiment with glyph-based visualizations to analyze huge, multi-dimensional data sets. One of our concepts visualizes product data as glyphs using a physically-based approach to interact with the data by deforming the surface of an elastic display. We are glad, that our concept for elastic displays has been accepted for the 5th Conference on Computation, Communication, Aesthetics & X (xCoAx 2017). The paper will be presented during the conference from 5 – 7 July 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal.
